The story behind this site

Hi, I'm the creator of this website.

Martin in Shanghai

My name is Martin. I'm a student from Guangzhou. I came to Shanghai for my studies in September 2025 and was fortunate to meet so many friends here. In the past year, I've talked with people from more than 30 regions and countries. After meeting so many people, I noticed that many of my international friends struggle with adapting to life here. Some might find it difficult to hail a car, or have no idea how to use food delivery services. The most worrying part is not knowing how to see a doctor in China.

The internet doesn't help as much as it should. The information is scattered across old forum posts and half-right videos, and Western AI tools give answers that sound confident but often don't fit how China actually works.

So I built this website.

I built this website to help international people know how to "live" in China, which consists of three parts.

Firstly, the guides. In this module, we have eight modules covering the everyday essentials, gathered and fact-checked so you don't have to trust a random blog. Secondly, the language exchange, which is to help build bridges between more people and break the ice. And the ask desk. I'd like to step by step walk you through the whole case on WeChat when you want me properly on it, until it's actually solved.

I hope this website is a place to make people's lives better. It is run partly for charity purposes: to build bridges, to know people, to meet people's needs. I have collected the latest information from official websites and sorted it into different categories. This website is something I can give back to those I deeply appreciate, as I was granted such immense pleasure in the past year. Also, as a creator and proposer, I hope this website can live, grow, and thrive, being able to reach out to more people and be passed down through time.

Why some of it costs money?

I want to be honest about this. Right now, the website is completely run by me alone, and my individual efforts are trivial compared to my ambition. If it is allowed to grow and thrive based on some rewards from those who agree and align with our vision, I would like to make it bigger.
